There were 1 dead and 31 wounded in a major Russian airstrike on the Ukrainian capital Kiev last night. Authorities report this 48 hours after the ceasefire with Russia expired. Moreover, it is highly doubtful that a full ceasefire has effectively taken place given the bombings on both sides during the temporary truce.

"The enemy is attacking Kiev with drones and ballistic missiles," Kiev Mayor Vitali Klychko wrote on Telegram. He called on the population to take shelter. The Kyiv Independent reports that the airstrikes by Russia damaged several buildings in Kiev. Among other things, the attacks destroyed a five-story residential building. A building was also reportedly damaged and collapsed. Many people there were reportedly trapped under the rubble. It is not clear if it is the same building.

The Russians targeted six districts of the Ukrainian capital and six others in the region. This was reported by military authorities report.

The Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) reported that at 7:30 a.m. local time, the tally had already reached 31 wounded, including one child. There was also one death.

After a seemingly lightly conceived three-day truce to commemorate the end of World War II, daily Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities have resumed. According to Zelensky, six people were killed in the attacks on Wednesday.

Since Wednesday, Russia has deployed as many as 1,560 drones. "This is certainly not the behavior of those who believe the war is coming to an end," Zelensky said. "It is important that our partners do not remain silent about this attack. And it is equally important to continue to support the defense of our airspace. It is also in everyone's interest who seeks peace to continue putting pressure on Russia," the Ukrainian president said.

Zelensky added that a rescue operation is underway in Kiev's Darnytskyi neighborhood. The entrance to a building there was destroyed by Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian civilians.
