None other than rock star Paul McCartney was temporarily thrown off a Reddit forum for breaking internal rules.
The now 83-year-old Sir Paul may have meant well, but he still had to spend some time on the punishment bench. What happened?
Paul McCartney's account was suspended by moderators of a fan forum about himself. McCartney had performed a sold-out concert in Los Angeles last Friday. During the show, it was strictly forbidden for spectators to take photos and videos. However, after the show, the singer decided to post some photos himself, taken by a crew member, in the fan forum. The message he left was: "I want to make sure you continue to have memories of the show. Hopefully you will want to share them with friends, family and loved ones."
Next to the message was a link to the photos. But that link sent interested parties to an external website, which is prohibited on Reddit. Consequence: the post was taken offline and moderators suspended Paul McCartney's account. They obviously didn't realize it was the real Paul McCartney, who, even though obviously well-intentioned, accidentally broke the rules.
Paul McCartney regained access to the fan forum after some time, but his original post with the link to the photos disappeared.
