Auctions are sometimes full of unusual and bizarre items, and today it's Pierre Niney's used handkerchief that's up for sale, for a sum that exceeds all his expectations.
It was on content creator, Antton Racca's podcast, that the actor, in the midst of promoting his new film 'Gourou', was challenged to sell one of his handkerchiefs. In fact, it all started with a game of 'true or false', when the host asked Pierre Niney: "True or false: in 2008, a used Scarlett Johansson handkerchief sold at auction for $5,300?" The answer to this question was indeed "true".
Scarlett Johansson, who had fallen ill on the set of 'The Spirit', had blown her nose on the 'Tonight' show. Her handkerchief was subsequently auctioned off, with the proceeds going directly to charity, reports Belgian media outlet RTBF. Always ready to laugh and, above all, to take up a challenge, Pierre Niney decided to do the same. He added during the interview: "In France, it's often very embarrassing. It goes up to twenty bullets and you're like 'Ah'". And yet... to date, his handkerchief has fetched the sum of 95,000 euros and, mind you, the auction ends in two days!
Antton Racca, for his part, has confirmed that all proceeds will be donated to a charity.
