At least eight people were killed and dozens more were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on two warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer. The attacks struck logistics sites in the Tambov region and in Elektrostal, near Moscow, and caused major fires.
According to Russian authorities, seven night shift workers were killed at a warehouse in Kotovsk, in the Tambov region, approximately 475 kilometers southeast of Moscow. Another 25 people were injured there, some of whom are in serious condition. In Elektrostal, in the Moscow region, one person was killed and 37 others were injured. Footage of the aftermath showed massive plumes of smoke and fires raging above the logistics warehouses.
Eight dead
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attacks targeted “key logistics facilities” that, according to him, were being used to supply sanctioned components for the production of drones and navigation equipment. Ukraine also carried out attacks in the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea, and on Russian-annexed territories in Crimea.
Wildberries is often described as the Russian equivalent of Amazon. The company, which was valued at approximately $12.6 billion in 2026 according to Forbes Russia , plays a key role in Russian logistics. According to Ukrainian security analyst Serhii Kuzan, it is a “vital component” in supplying the Russian military, including through parts for communications and drone equipment.
“Terrible night”
The attacks are part of a recent Ukrainian campaign targeting Russian energy and logistics infrastructure. Zelensky stated that these operations are a response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and cities. Russia, for its part, has been targeting similar facilities in Ukraine since the start of the war in February 2022. For Wildberries CEO Tatyana Kim, it was “a terrible night” for Russia and for the company. Regional governors described it as the heaviest attack in a long time, while emergency services and firefighters were still dealing with the aftermath for hours afterward.
