Jannik Sinner takes on Alexander Zverev this Sunday May 3 in the final of the Madrid Masters 1000. The world number 1 will be aiming for his fourth title of 2026 and a fifth consecutive Masters 1000, an all-time record in the history of tennis.
Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev face off tomorrow, Sunday May 3, in the final of the Madrid Masters 1000. The match kicks off at 5pm.
For the world number 1, this is no ordinary final: the Italian player is aiming for a fourth title in 2026 - after Indian Wells, Miami and Monte-Carlo - and above all a fifth consecutive Masters 1000, a feat that no player has ever achieved in the history of the circuit. This series also includes his title at Paris-Bercy 2025.
The figures speak for themselves
Jannik Sinner arrives with a 22-match winning streak and a ranking that has already reached 14,000 points, with the possibility of climbing to 14,250. The gap to Carlos Alcaraz - in second place with 12,960 points and sidelined by a wrist injury - is set to widen even further. At 24, Sinner is also the youngest player in history to have reached the final of each of the nine Masters 1000 events on the calendar.
Domination over Zverev
The two men have met 13 times: Sinner has won 9 of them, winning their last 8 duels. Zverev hasn't taken a set from the world number 1 since the Australian Open final in January 2025. Surprisingly, in each of the three Masters titles won this year, Sinner crossed paths with the German in the semi-finals, winning each time. This time, the duel will be a straightforward one for the title.
