A soldier from the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery died on Friday night at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The rider fell from his horse shortly after a performance and died on the spot from his injuries.

According to The Sun, the member of the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, suffered serious injuries when he fell down on Friday night while leaving the arena in Windsor, Berkshire. King Charles and other members of the British royal family were present at the scene, but did not learn of the seriousness of the incident until later, according to the palace.

A spokesman for the British royal palace said Charles was "deeply shocked and saddened." "The king will contact the family to express his personal condolences. The thoughts and sincere sympathy of the entire royal family go out to the victim's loved ones and military colleagues at this time of mourning," the spokesman added.

The death is considered "unexplained but not suspicious." The Thames Valley Police have launched an investigation. The event will go on despite the death, but without further performances by the King's Troop. On Saturday, Charles revisited the venue and addressed members of the unit involved.
