The FBI has put a $200,000 reward (about 172,000 euros) on Monica Witt's head. At the very least, this reward is waiting for whoever can provide the ultimate tip that would lead to the arrest of the fugitive American military who is believed to have been spying for Iran.

The FBI is serious in its search for Monica Witt, a counterintelligence officer with the U.S. Air Force's Office of Special Investigations who turned her back on the U.S. and began spying for Iranian authorities. Her job with the U.S. military took her to the Middle East between 2003 and 2008. According to the U.S. Department of State, during that period, she was allegedly recruited by Iran. "After her defection, she revealed the existence of a highly secret intelligence program and the identity of a U.S. intelligence officer, endangering that person's life," said U.S. Deputy Attorney General John Demers.

According to the U.S. court, between January 2012 and May 2015, she also allegedly "conspired with Iranians in Iran and elsewhere outside the U.S. to provide documents and information related to the national defense of the United States, with the intent and knowledge that they would be used to the detriment of the United States and to the benefit of Iran". US authorities want to catch her at all costs and punish her for treason.

But where is Monica Witt? Someone must know, think the FBI. It is counting on the political chaos in Iran to make someone speak up and reveal the whereabouts of the American. The FBI says in advance that they "have not forgotten her" and is also offering a $200,000 (about 172,000 euros) reward for the tip that leads to the woman's arrest.

"Witt probably still supports Iran's nefarious activities. But someone at this crucial moment in Iran's history knows something about her whereabouts," said FBI agent Daniel Wierzbicki, the head of the counterintelligence division of the FBI's Washington D.C. branch. "The FBI would like to hear from you so that you can help us arrest Witt and bring her to justice," it sounds on the sidelines of the Middle East conflict.
