56-year-old Belgian Katty Oosterlinck was brutally killed in her Fuerteventura home on May 3 by her own son Aaron H. (22). He strangled her, inflicted fatal wounds on her and then dismembered her body, which he dumped in garbage bags.
After three days of searching the island's central garbage dump, detectives from the Guardia Civil found her remains. Her son confessed to the facts without any trace of remorse. The local newspaper Canarias7 was able to see the autopsy report showing that the woman was horribly murdered.
The court qualified it as premeditated murder with intentional magnification of the victim's suffering. After the murder, the son remained cold-blooded: he plundered his mother's bank account for nearly 3,000 euros, with which he bought cleaning supplies and a saw.
The motive was his heavy drug addiction. Katty had tried everything to help him, gave up her job to accompany him day and night and was even willing to pay for a separate apartment for him. That last attempt to create distance proved fatal to her.
