Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami after 38 new sex offense charges

A major blow to the so-called prophets of the online manosphere.

British-American influencers Andrew Tate (39) and his brother Tristan (38) were arrested in Miami on Saturday, July 18. The British Crown Prosecution Service confirmed this on Sunday. According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in the United Kingdom, the brothers are now being prosecuted on 38 new criminal charges, including rape, human trafficking, and offenses related to extreme pornography and images of child sexual abuse.

Extradition to the UK?

The United Kingdom has since requested the extradition of both suspects. The brothers will have to answer in a British court for the original 21 charges and the new charges that the Crown Prosecution Service has now added. This brings the total number of charges against Andrew and Tristan Tate in the UK to 59, which, according to the British prosecution, involve seven victims.

Misogynistic influencers

Andrew Tate is being prosecuted on, among other things, seven additional counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, three counts of assault, and nineteen additional charges related to images of child sexual abuse and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate is being prosecuted for sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts related to human trafficking for sexual exploitation. The alleged offenses are said to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017.

For years, the Tate brothers have been controversial due to their ultra-conservative and misogynistic statements. With their views on women and gender roles, they have built a large online following, especially among young men. Andrew Tate had previously been banned from platforms such as X and Instagram for hateful remarks. The two had also previously been charged or investigated in the United Kingdom and Romania. In Romania, they were first arrested in 2022 on suspicion of sexual exploitation, but that case later encountered legal and procedural complications. A criminal investigation into the brothers was also underway in the United States last year. Andrew Tate has previously denied the allegations, calling them “lies” and “outright fabrications.” Their attorney, Joseph McBride, says he is convinced that both men will ultimately be released.
